ABSA Privacy Policy

This ABSA Privacy Policy sets out governs the use and management of personal information, including the use, management and disclosure of that information on this website.

ABSA collects personal information for the purposes of fulfilling its responsibilities and obligations to its members as set out in the ABSA Constitution. ABSA takes reasonable precautions to protect information from misuse, unauthorised access, modifications and/or disclosure. Where practicable, we require all organisations to which we disclose information to implement reasonable precautions which protect that information, including those measures required by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

ABSA will use and disclosure your information only in accordance with the purposes for which it is collected and the Privacy Act. This use and disclosure includes:

  • Maintaining membership records.
  • Providing its members with information relevant to membership.
  • Providing services to its members (including, but not limited to, forums, assessment tools, training and exam registration and online payment services).
  • Providing information to state, territory and federal government departments which regulate the provision of services by members (where relevant).
  • Conducting research relevant to its members or the provision of services by its members.
  • Providing information to ABSA professional advisors, contractors, suppliers and insurance providers.
  • Providing information as authorised or required by law.

You have the right to request access to any of your personal information held by ABSA (unless ABSA is permitted by law to withhold disclosure of that information), and to request that ABSA correct any of your personal information (where necessary). Any request for access or corrections to personal information should be made to ABSA in writing. You also have the right to request that any personal information held by ABSA in relation to you which is incorrect, be corrected.
