What is a Habitat Partners Sustainability Assessment?

While most of us worry about spiralling energy costs and want to do something about it, the truth is it is hard to know where to start. That is why the Habitat Partners program was developed. Habitat Partners gives you access to the skills of certified Sustainability Assessors in your area and a choice of assessment options that suit you.

Sustainability Report

For between $300 and $500 (depending on the size and complexity of your building), a fully accredited, independent professionals will perform a building energy audit of your living or business environment. They will audit the key elements of your electricity, gas and water use and inspect the main energy and water systems. The assessor may check copies of your recent utility bills and conduct an external inspection to observe the layout and construction of the property. After the relevant data has been collected, the assessor will analyse it and provide you with a Habitat Partners Sustainability Report that contains a summary and analysis of the electricity, water and gas consumption of your property along with options and recommendations for improvements.

Further Advice: Sustainability Home Plan

After a Habitat Partners Sustainability Report has been done on your property you might like to know how to implement the recommendations, the costs involved and the time it will take to make your building more sustainable. An assessor will revisit your property to discuss your goals and values, budgetary and other constraints to produce a Sustainability Home Plan. It includes actions you can take now and in the medium and long term. Not only that, but the Habitat Partners Sustainability Home Plan can be passed on to new owners. Like the log book for your car, a Sustainability Home Plan is both a record of the planned improvements to your property as well as an instruction manual on how to get the most out of it. With the recommendations from your Sustainable Home Plan, you can make the right decisions as to which measures will pay the biggest return on sustainability investments you make in your property.
